Example #1 - BCHD Refuses to Listen to the Neighborhood - The December 7th CWG Cancellation

On December 7, 2020, BCHD "Canceled" the neighborhood Community Working Group formed in 2017 to gain neighborhood input. Within the next 3 months, BCHD increased the height of its massive project from 76-feet tall to 103-feet tall and blindsided the public and the CWG members in BCHD's Draft EIR release.

BCHD Subject Line "Thank You for Your Service: CWG Dec. 7 Meeting"

Throughout the so-called healthy living campus process, BCHD ignored the 1,000+ voices of residents. This was especially true on December 7, 2020 when the neighborhood representatives on the CWG were canceled by BCHD.

The local neighborhood members had been consistently voicing concern to BCHD - the development was too big, too tall, and too close to homes.

In its December 7th Sneak Attack on the neighborhood - BCHD canceled the Community Working Group and set out to further increase its proposed development up to 103-feet above the interior courtyard and 133-1/2 feet above Beryl St.

BCHD CANCELED THE COMMUNITY WORKING GROUP TO AVOID HEARING ANY MORE FROM LOCAL RESIDENTS!

BCHD CONSISTENTLY REFUSED TO LISTEN TO THE 2,500 SURROUNDING RESIDENTS WITHIN 1/2-MILE OF THE FAILED SOUTH BAY HOSPITAL SITE.

BCHD earns $2 million+ /year in current rent income now. Why would taxpayers want to support a for-profit HUGE construction project that is neighborhood-opposed? Are taxpayers going to want to keep on paying property taxes to BCHD, knowing that BCHD’s accounting doesn’t add up?
