Example #2 - BCHD Refuses to Listen to the Neighborhood - 100+ Comments Ignored on June 17th
On Friday June 12th, 2020 at 605PM, BCHD blindsided the Community Working Group with a never-before-seen BCHD plan. The prior plan was 60-feet tall and had placed 160,000 sqft of parking underground to reduce its visual impact.
THE JUNE 12th PLAN WAS 76-FEET TALL WITH AN 8-10 STORY PARKING RAMP!
The Community Working Group of neighborhood input, along with the general public, were given only 3 business days by BCHD to READ, ANALYZE, and COMMENT on the never-before-seen plan. By moving the parking to a ramp, BCHD increased the visual size of their project by nearly 100,000 sqft.
OBVIOUSLY BCHD WAS PLANNING TO APPROVE IT NO MATTER WHAT!
Over 100 comments were made in writing and in person at the June 17th BCHD Board Meeting AGAINST the Increase in both the SQFT of surface buildings and the HEIGHT of the project.
BCHD refused to hear the public, CUT OFF COMMENT, and voted to APPROVE the TALLER and BIGGER design that very night after ONLY 3 BUSINESS DAYS.
THE PUBLIC SPOKE - BCHD REFUSED TO LISTEN!
BCHD CONSISTENTLY REFUSED TO LISTEN TO THE 2,500 SURROUNDING RESIDENTS WITHIN 1/2-MILE OF THE FAILED SOUTH BAY HOSPITAL SITE.
